Quantifying The Mutational Process
Theoretical work has shown that deleterious mutations may explain many evolutionary phenomena, but the role they play depends on their specific properties, including the overall rate at which they occur in the genome and the distribution of their selection (s) and dominance (h) coefficients. However, accurate estimates for these parameters from a range of species are still lacking. In this thes...
متن کاملCoronary to extra-cardiac anastomosis
We are reporting a rare case of a patient with the right coronary artery giving a large collateral vessel to an intercostal artery in a patient with repaired coarctation of aorta. A 64 year-old man with coarctation of the aorta, surgically repaired at 18 years of age, presented with dyspnea. A trans-esophageal echocardiogram revealed a severely stenotic bicuspid aortic valve.
متن کاملExtracardiac anastomosis in coronary ostial occlusion.
In his review of the physiology of the coronary circulation, Wiggers (1936) enumerated three types of compensatory anastomosis that may develop after coronary occlusion: (1) through development ofnew ititercoronary communications, (2) through formation of extracardiac communications, and (3) through enlargement of arterio-luminal channels. Widespread minor anastomoses are known to exist between...
متن کاملQuantifying the Dynamic Behavior of Process Algebras
The paper introduces a new approach to define process algebras with quantified transitions. A mathematical model is introduced which allows the definition of various classes of process algebras including the well known models of untimed, probabilistic and stochastic process algebras. For this general mathematical model a bisimulation equivalence is defined and it is shown that the equivalence i...
متن کاملDistal Coronary Anastomosis Remodeling, Patency, and Function in the Pig
Background—Anastomotic connectors could be the key to less invasive bypass surgery, including endoscopic procedures, but equivalence to conventional suturing needs to be established. A novel distal coronary connector was tested pre-clinically for safety and efficacy in comparison to conventional suturing. Methods and Results—Left internal thoracic to left anterior descending coronary artery byp...
